Traveling to Mexico for Spring Break Discouraged

The University of Houston Department of Public Safety wants to alert all students planning on or considering vacationing in Mexico for their upcoming spring break to do so with extreme caution.  The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging spring breakers to avoid traveling to Mexico because of continued violence. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is very important to us and we want to ensure you are safe during this spring break season. 

In the event you will be traveling to Mexico this spring break season or at any time, please check the U.S. State Department website for the most up-to-date information related to security issues in Mexico. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_970.html or http://mexico.usembassy.gov/eng/eacs_MexicoSecurityUpdate.html.)

U.S. citizens living or traveling in Mexico are urged to register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) provided by the Bureau of Consular Affairs at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/.
