SUSPECTS:

Black male, unknown age, 6’ 0”, muscular build, Suspect #1 was possibly wearing a dark colored jacket, white shirt and a dark hat and possibly a dark colored hoodie.  The complainant did not have a good enough view for a detailed description.

Black male, unknown age, 6’ 0” muscular build, Suspect #2 was possibly wearing dark color clothing, possibly wearing a dark colored hoodie  The complainant did not have a good enough view for a detailed description.

Possibly a White or Hispanic Male, unknown age, 6’ 0” slender build.  Suspect #3 was wearing a dark jacket and pants and a lighter colored shirt.  The complainant did not have a good enough view for a detailed description.

WEAPON:   No weapons involved.

VEHICLE:    No vehicles involved

SYNOPSIS:

On Sunday, January 8, 2012 at approximately 11:50 p.m., the complainant reported to UHDPS that he had been robbed on Wheeler Street near University of Houston Entrance 6, (4300 Block of Wheeler Street).

The complainant stated that at approximately 8:15 p.m. he was walking westbound on Wheeler Street when he was approached by three individuals.  As the suspects walked past the complainant one of them slapped complainant with an open hand, knocking the complainant to the ground.  One of the suspects told the complainant to give him all of his money and then told the complainant to give him his wallet.  The complainant suffered a small cut to his lip which did not require medical attention.

After the complainant gave one of the suspects his wallet, all three suspects fled the scene on foot eastbound on Wheeler Street.

SAFETY TIPS:

Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own.  When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:

  • BE ALERT!!
  • Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
  • Remain as calm as possible.Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
  • The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
  • Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
  • Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
  • Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
  • If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
