Motor Vehicle Theft
SUSPECTS: No specific suspect information available; four to five males (of unknown race) were involved in the incident.
WEAPONS: No weapons used.
VEHICLE: A silver colored four door Honda Civic, with a temporary paper Dealer's tag.
SYNOPSIS: On March 6, 2008, UHDPS received a total of four reports of motor vehicle thefts from three University of Houston Parking lots. All of the stolen vehicles were Honda Civics (Si models); model years from 1999 to 2000. A subsequent investigation into the incident revealed a suspect vehicle description. The investigation into the thefts is ongoing and no arrests have been made as of yet.
The complainants advised that they parked their vehicles in UH parking lots 1A, 20A and 20C and secured them while they attended classes. The complainants advised that when they returned to where their vehicles were parked, they discovered their vehicles were gone. After receiving the theft reports, UHDPS initiated an investigation and was able to determine that a silver in color Honda Civic was involved in at least one of the thefts. It was also found that a least four to five males (race unknown) were involved in the thefts. The thefts occurred between the hours of 8:00am and 1:30pm. The method of entry into the secured vehicles is unknown at this time, but no broken glass was found at the scene of either of the thefts. No weapons were used in the incidents and no threats to person or life was made during the episode.
