Attempted Robbery

SUSPECT #1: Black male, approximately 6'0" in height, 18 to 25 years old, approximately 160 pounds wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

SUSPECT #2: Black male, approximately 6'0" in height, 18 to 25 years old, approximately 170 pounds,

WEAPONS: None

VEHICLE: None

 

SYNOPSIS: At approximately 1:49 a.m. on Saturday, 29, 2007 the complainant was walking through parking lot 15D when he observed suspect #1 and suspect #2 walking in the same parking lot. Suspect #1 asked the complainant to walk towards his direction. The complainant approached the suspects noticing suspect # 2 laughing profusely. Suspect #1 also began to laugh and asked the complainant for his wallet. The complainant refused to relinquish his wallet to the suspects. Suspect #1, while still laughing, slowly swung his balled fist towards the complainant, but did not make contact. The suspects left walking towards lot 11A. The complainant walked away in a different direction. The complainant was not injured during this incident and no items were taken from him.

 

SAFETY TIPS:

Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own.  When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:

  • BE ALERT!!
  • Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
  • Remain as calm as possible.Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
  • The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
  • Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
  • Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
  • Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
  • If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
