Terroristic Threat, Bayou Oaks January 10, 2009

ARRESTEE: Tyler Kent Wright, White male, height 6 feet, weight 180 pounds

KNOWN VEHICLES:
2003 Chevy Suburban, dark grey, dents on side, "100 Club" stickers on back
1998 GMC Pickup, white

SYNOPSIS: On Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, UHDPS police dispatch received a call from a student at Bayou Oaks residential complex regarding an ex-boyfriend threatening via phone to kill her and her current boyfriend. Officers arrived on scene and witnessed additional threats made via phone. Officers made high visibility patrols of Bayou Oaks, which were seen by arrestee Wright, preventing him from coming to the complex.
UHDPS police obtained a warrant for Wright's arrest for terroristic threat, and were able to place Wright under arrest at his residence without incident on the morning of Jan.11.
Upon release to the Harris County Jail Tyler Kent Wright was issued a criminal trespass warning for the University of Houston campus. Wright is not affiliated with the university. However if Wright is seen on campus, UHDPS asks that you contact police dispatch immediately by calling 713-743-3333 or 911 from a campus phone.

SAFETY TIPS:

Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own.  When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:

  • BE ALERT!!
  • Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
  • Remain as calm as possible.Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
  • The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
  • Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
  • Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
  • Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
  • If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
