Suspect Description: The suspect was a black male, 19 – 25 years old, short black hair, medium brown complexion, approximately 5’ 11’ to 6’ 1” tall, with no facial hair. The suspect was wearing a dark colored shirt and denim jeans.
Weapon: Unknown what if any weapon the suspect used.
Vehicle: A dark in color newer make four door sedan with tinted windows (unknown make/model/year).
Synopsis: A UH student reported that on Monday, October 19, 2009 at approximately 9:35pm, while he was sitting in his vehicle parked in UH Lot 4A, he was robbed by an unknown black male suspect. The student advised that the suspect approached him in the lot while he was sitting in his parked vehicle with the driver side door open. The student advised that the suspect asked him if he knew “where they sell weed”, and he replied that he did not know. The student advised that the suspect then pressed an unknown object into his side and demanded his cellular phone. The student advised that he gave the suspect his phone. The suspect entered into a dark in color four door vehicle (unknown make/model/year) and exited the lot onto Wheeler Street. The student was not injured in the incident.
SAFETY TIPS:
Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own. When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:
- BE ALERT!!
- Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
- Remain as calm as possible.Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
- The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
- Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
- Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
- Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
- If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
