Aggravated Robbery - Cambridge Oaks Apartments

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:

Suspect 1:  Black male, 18 to 22 years of age, approximately 5’07” to 5’09”, 150 to 160 lbs., clean shaven. The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, red basketball shorts, white shoes, and a black do-rag type head covering.

WEAPON: Small black handgun (Unknown frame type)

VEHICLE: Complainants' vehicle stolen - 2003 White Ford Explorer XLT, Texas License Plate 29Z-GP9

On Saturday, June 19, 2010 around 1:40PM, two UH visitors were robbed by an unidentified male at gun point.  The incident occurred in the parking lot of Cambridge Oaks Apartments on the campus of the University of Houston.

Two visitors came to the Cambridge Oaks Apartment complex to visit a friend. After entering the complex, they parked and exited their vehicle. They were approached by the suspect who made confrontational statements and displayed a small black handgun. The suspect demanded the complainants' possessions, taking their wallets, cell phones and the keys to their vehicle. The suspect then entered the complainants’ vehicle, and drove out of the complex in an unknown direction.

 SAFETY TIPS:

Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own.  When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:

  • BE ALERT!!
  • Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
  • Remain as calm as possible. Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
  • The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
  • Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
  • Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
  • Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
  • If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
