A severe weather alert for the Texas Medical Center area, which includes the University of Houston, has been issued calling for severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and wind gusts to 50 mph. An isolated, brief tornado could result.

This alert is effective through 3 p.m. Tuesday. Please use caution as you travel to and from campus and be alert for possible street flooding.
