SUSPECT DESCRIPTIONS: 

1. A medium build black male, dark complexion, 5’7” to 5’9” tall, between the ages of 20-25, approximately 175 to 180 pounds, wearing black ski mask, a black hoodie and dark blue jeans.

2. Unknown description (driver of the vehicle).

WEAPON: 

1. A silver frame semi-automatic pistol.

VEHICLE:  A white, newer model SUV Chevrolet Tahoe with white rims, (unknown license plate).

SYNOPSIS:  On Friday, September 24, 2010 at approximately 11:30 p.m., three UH student were robbed at gunpoint by an unidentified black male suspect.  The complainants were walking from Cougar Village to Bayou Oaks.  At the 5000 block of Calhoun as the complainants were crossing the street to go to Bayou Oaks, the Chevrolet Tahoe stopped abruptly next to them and suspect number one exited the right rear door of the vehicle.

The complainants stated that suspect number one displayed a weapon and told them all to drop their purses and phones.   The complainants dropped their property and ran to Bayou Oaks and immediately called the police.  Suspect number one retrieved the abandoned property and re-entered the Chevrolet Tahoe, at which time the vehicle left the area heading south bound on Calhoun.

The complainants were not injured in the incident.  The case is being actively investigated by UHDPS and the Houston Police Department, if you have any information concerning this incident please call UHDPS at (713) 743-3333.

SAFETY TIPS:

Confrontations can occur without provocation, through no fault of your own.  When such confrontations do occur, there are some actions you can take:

  • BE ALERT!!
  • Be cautious when approached by an unknown person on the street, even the nicest person can have ill intent.
  • Remain as calm as possible.Your own initiative and clear thinking are your best defenses.
  • The University has more than 70 Emergency call boxes placed strategically around campus, use them! The call goes directly to the UHDPS Dispatch Center.
  • Report the incident. Call the police immediately and report what has happened. Call (713) 743-3333 or 911.
  • Do not walk alone, if at all possible walk in groups.
  • Try to notice details. This can allow you to provide the police with detailed physical and clothing descriptions of the person(s) involved.
  • If a vehicle is involved, try to note the vehicle's license plate number or the vehicle's manufacturer, model and color or any other identifying features.
